Swab tests have been done to those who came in contact with the Covid-19 cases from Carcar City, Talisay City, Daanbantayan, Bantayan, and Minganilla.

Those who attended the burial of the CPDRC inmate from Catmon who died of Covid-19 are also scheduled for the test.

In her Facebook livestream report on Saturday, May 2, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia assured that these actions have been done following the contact-tracing procedures for the Covid-19 cases in the province.

She also cautioned Cebuanos that most of the positive cases were asymptomatic while others, who manifest fever or colds, usually end up fine the following day.

"Ang ako na lang gyud, ug mao kini ang atong awhag sa mga mayor, that at the early stages kun asymptomatic, let us all boost ilang immune system," Garcia said.

All towns and cities in Cebu Province of Cebu are now required to provide home remedies for their constituents who show influenza-like illnesses (ILI).

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) Central Visayas reported 124 new cases but none from the province.

Of the 124, four are repatriated Cebuano seafarers who are currently on quarantine in Cebu City since they arrived from Manila on April 28.

The governor opted not to disclose the hometown residence of these seafarers so as not to cause panic among the local government units and their constituents.

"Di na lang sa nato i-identify kung asa ni sila gikan aron di magubot ang mga residences or mga local government units. Ato na lang sa ni sila itago sa general classification nga mga OFWs," Garcia said.

Of the 120 remaining new cases, 119 are from Cebu City while 1 case is from Mandaue City.

As of May 2, Cebu Province has a total of 29 cases, 877 in Cebu City, 35 in Lapu-Lapu City, and 29 in Mandaue City.

However, Garcia said the figures could change as one of the cases logged in Cebu Province turned out to be a resident of Cebu City.

She said that upon investigation, the patient listed Talisay City as its residence in order to be admitted at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. (Vanessa Almeda)
