Since public service is a sworn duty, Gov. Gwen Garcia considers thanking her for Capitol’s assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic "unnecessary." But in her regular Facebook livestream report, she shared her happiness after receiving the messages of thanks from the beneficiaries. (Lito Tecson)

Help is on the way for polio-stricken Clarita Valiente, 53, a resident of Tabogon town who was not included in the list of beneficiaries of the social amelioration fund from the national government because she is not married and doesn’t have children.

Seeing her dire state, the Cebu Provincial Government will be sending some goods to to Valiente today, May 12 such as rice, milk, oatmeal, sardines, as well as Vitamins C and B complex.

“Single man siya, unya per family man ang distribution sa ilang barangay. Apan nasakit og polio for 30 years. Imong makita nga makaluluoy gyud kaayo ang kahimtang, mao nang atong padad-an didto og tabang,” Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said on Monday, May 11, in her daily livestream report over Sugbo News.

Although she finds thanking her for Capitol’s assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic “unnecessary” since public service is a sworn duty, the governor shared the messages of gratitude she received from the public.

“Bisan og naanad na ta nga dili na pasalamatan apan ako ni silang gi-feature kay nindot sad baya nang magpasalamat kay malipay sad ta,” Garcia expressed.

Mario Manulat, a resident of Barangay Cogon in Compostela, thanked the governor through his Facebook account for the basic goods they received from the Capitol which included rice, oatmeal, milk and sardines.

They also received nasograstic tube to help the food intake of his wife, Elvira, who has Stage 3 thyroid gland cancer.

The local government of Pinamungajan also extended their gratitude to the governor, through a Facebook post, for the financial assistance downloaded to the municipality which was used, along with the town’s funds, to purchase basic commodities for its residents.

“You have always been with us in good and bad times Gov. Gwen Garcia. Forever grateful for all the support you had extended to our town. These and all, thank you very much. In these trying times, we are assured that we can always call on you for help. You made our burden a bit lighter. With you around we will stand still, Gov,” the post read.

“Salamat nga nagpasalamat mo intawon. Mayor Glenn Baricuatro ug atong mga opisyales sa Lungsod sa Pinamungajan, parte sa kanhi nako gialagaran isip congresswoman sa third district,” Garcia said. (Eleanor Valeros)
