The Cebu Provincial Government urged expectant mothers to consider giving birth in the provincial hospitals located in the cities of Carcar, Danao, and Bogo, and in Balamban town while the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing.
This as mothers who just gave birth are some of the latest Covid-19 cases recorded for the Province as 10 new cases were added on Monday, May 18.
“Sa atong 10 ka positive cases, ang nanganak upat kabuok (residents of Liloan, Talisay City, Samboan, and Badian). Nangadtog hospital, nanganak, gitest nagpostive," Governor Gwendolyn Garcia reported during her regular visual presser.
The other new cases include one newborn baby from Toledo City; a one-year-old child from San Fernando; a health worker from Minglanilla; and three other from Talisay City also – two had influenza-like illnesses while one died due to brain aneurysm while admitted at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).
"Ang ato gyud nga gi-advice as much as possible ari lang una ta sa provincial hospitals nato especially kaning manganak ba. Kaya man unta na, only tingali naandan nga mudiritso sa Syudad...mudiritso og private hospitals," Garcia said, adding that notices will be sent to all town and city health officers for this matter.
From May 15 to May 17, 394 swabs were taken to three sub-national laboratories for Covid-19 in Cebu - 343 came out negative while 51 resulted positive. Of the 51, 10 are from Cebu Province, 33 from Cebu City, five from Lapu-Lapu City, and three from Mandaue City.
Meanwhile, Garcia said a private company offered to put up 20 dialysis machines in the provincial hospitals.
"Duna nasad tay gipatuyok nga private company willing to put up dialysis machines ila tanan, makig-partner sa Province. Mangita lang ta og igong kabutangan kay 20 ka machines ni," she said. (Mylen Manto)
