SUPPORT EMPLOYEES’ HEALTH REGIMEN AGAINST COVID-19 - BUSINESSES ASKED

As several businesses are allowed to operate now that Cebu Province is under General Community Quarantine (GCQ), companies and establishments will be required to submit a business continuity and health security plans to the local government units where they are operating. 

"The business security plan shall be focused on boosting the immune system of their employees. So mogasto man ang mga negosyonte, kini ang pagtabang na sa immune system sa mga empleyado," Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said during her regular visual presser on Tuesday, May 19.

Executive Order (EO) No. 17 which stated Cebu Province's GCQ protocols has explicitly required all Cebuanos to strictly follow a health regimen boosting the immune system to gain a fighting chance against Covid-19.

Business owners will be signing a pledge of commitment on this measure, aside from the standard health protocols such body temperature checks and sanitation measures, among others set by the Department of Trade and Industry. 

Health regimen, as stated in the EO, include drinking of 8 to 12 glasses of water everyday, turmeric-salabat (ginger) tea mix twice daily, and freshly squeezed calamansi juice twice daily; sleeping at eight hours a day; maintaining a healthy and balanced diet; staying under the sun for at least 30 minutes between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The EO also encouraged regular intake of Vitamin C, Vitamin B Complex, and Zinc and when needed, steam inhalation or "tu-ob" twice daily.

Also included in the regimen are swimming in sea, rivers and other open bodies of water between 6 a.m. to 12 noon; individual outdoor and non-contact exercises between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; and any other form of exercise or sports activity not requiring a team or contact sports from 6 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. (Vanessa L.
