The Cebu Provincial Government released a total of P3.2 million as financial assistance to 1,129 Cebuanos stranded in different provinces across the country.

“Duna man tay cut-off adto, ang total natong natabangan nga mga Cebuanos as of July 29, 2020 is 1,129. Ato ning gipadad-an through kwarta padala og tabang ngadto sa nagkadilain nga mga probinsya kun diin sila na stranded,” Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said during her virtual presser on Wednesday, July 29.

On April 12, the Province of Cebu launched its Stranded Cebuanos Assistance Program (SCAP) to help several Cebuanos in areas outside Cebu who were unable to return home after the Province closed its doors while it was placed under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) status.

Garcia said the 1,129 recipients have been properly validated. Applications went through rigorous scrutiny to make sure there are no bogus claimants.

Cebuanos sent the required documents set by the committee through the official Facebook page of the SCAP which included the submission of certification from the local government unit where they are stranded.

Those stranded within Cebu Island do not qualify for the assistance.

“Daghan kaayo nangapply asta ang nanga stranded kuno sa, naa sila sa Mandaue unya nangapply sila. Dili na, kadto ra intawong naas gawas,” Garcia stated. (Mylen Manto)
