The Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) will soon be back after public transportation is allowed in Cebu City under general community quarantine (GCQ) status.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia announced this in a press conference on Sunday, August 2 in Barili town. However, she emphasized that careful planning must be done to ensure public safety.

“We will have to revert. We need to plan very carefully. We’ll have to revert after careful planning. The CSBT will have to operate once again as the Cebu South Bus Terminal,” she said.

The terminal for bus trips going to the southern and midwestern part of Cebu is currently located at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Talisay City after Cebu Province was placed under GCQ while Cebu City remained under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Cebu businessman Bunny Pages offered his space at the Cebu South Coastal Road where the restaurant Lantaw SRP is located to accommodate the buses and mini buses.

The CSBT facility at N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City is being used as a “Bagsakan Center” or drop-off point for agri-fishery products from the different towns and cities of Cebu Province to decongest the Carbon Public Market and Pasil Fishport in Cebu City.

The “Bagsakan Center” program is in cooperation with the Cebu City Market Authority.

“In the meantime, ang atong Bagsakan will need to be transferred. So that much I can tell you, kinahanglan pa ayuhon natog plano,” Garcia said. (Mylen Manto)
