Gov. Gwen Garcia, with provincial and town officials, led the groundbreaking ceremony of the various road concreting projects in Cebu’s 7th District.

Groundbreaking of road concreting projects following national standards of 6.1 meters wide and nine inches thick took place Monday, September 28 in the towns of Alegria, Badian, and Moalboal in the seventh district of Cebu Province.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who led the groundbreaking ceremony, said she only wants the best for Cebu Province, thus the Phase 2 of road concreting in the said municipalities are of the highest standards.

“Nakakita man mo’s dalan? Nindot ba? Lapad? Murag highway? Cebu Provincial Government na! Nothing but the best for the Province of Cebu and the Cebuanos,” she added.

The concreting of Sangi-Dugyan Road in Valencia, Alegria; Lambug-Bato-Banhigan Road in Badian, and Poblacion-Bugho section in Moalboal stretch four kilometers each.

The Sangi-Dugyan and Lambug-Bato-Banhigan roads cost P55 million each, while the Poblacion-Bugho road section is worth P39 million.

The Cebu Provincial Government also opened for public use the newly constructed road projects which include the P12-million Sangi-Dugyan Road, P12-million Banhigan Road stretch, and the P11-million road stretch in Barangay Bugho.

The roads, which cost a total of P36 million taken from the 2019 Supplemental Budget, are only part of the Phase 1 road concreting program of the Capitol, one of the priority projects of the Garcia administration.

This year, the Province allocated more funds in its 2020 Annual Budget for the Phase 2 or the continuation of the road concreting works.

She shared that works in Bato-Banhigan are set to complete the circumferential road with only one-kilometer road lacking, giving easier access to the white sand beach in Lambug.

Despite all the unfortunate events that happened in the past months, the governor assured Cebuanos that the Capitol is steadfast in its commitment to deliver what they have promised to the constituents.

“Tinud-on namo ang among gisaad ninyo.

Present during the groundbreaking and inauguration are Cebu 7th District Rep. Peter John Calderon, 7th District Provincial Board Members Christopher “Dong” Baricuatro and Jerome Librando, Alegria Mayor Verna Magallon, Moalboal Mayor Paz Rozgoni, and Badian Mayor Carmen Lumain, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, barangay chairmen and councilmen.
