Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia graced the inauguration of the new Land Transportation Office (LTO) office in Carcar City Wednesday, November 25.

The LTO Carcar City District Office, considered as the biggest in the entire Central Visayas, stands on a 1.3-hectare property in Sitio Pajo, Barangay Valladolid. It is a five-minute drive from the highway and will be operational on Tuesday, December 1.

Garcia said she is truly inspired to witness the inauguration of the “ultra-modern state of the art facility,” a one-stop-shop and a public-private partnership (PPP) of the LTO and RoadReady, Inc.

“I would like to salute Vic Caindec, our regional director, truly with his dedicated and dynamic leadership, he has brought government’s services particularly LTO services closer to the people,” she said.

“Maong magpasalamat gyud kog maayo kay murag duol gyud sa kasingkasing ni RD Caindec, ang Probinsya sa Sugbo, di lang ang dakbayan. Kay mas dako ang probinsya og mas daghang katawhan ang nagkinahanglan,” Garcia added.

She assured Caindec of her full support for the LTO-7.

She also said that the roads leading to the LTO Carcar City District Office have to be widened and cemented.

Garcia thanked Jay Bautista, a businessman, for his partnership with the LTO, for coming back to his roots in Cebu and building an “ultra-modern state of the art-facility” for the public.

Caindec was elated considering that with the partnership, the government did not spend a single centavo in building LTO Carcar City District Office.

“What is noteworthy about this is that at the onset makita ninyo nga the proponent here took a very big gamble...building and putting up this structure for LTO,” he said. Construction was completed in a year and a half.

Under the agreement, they will use the building for 20 years and will only pay for the electricity and maintenance.
