The Municipality of Poro in the Camotes Group of Islands no longer need to apply for a loan to fund their waterworks project as the Cebu Provincial Government already committed to take care of it.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Level III waterworks system worth P24,861,807.50 on Saturday, February 13.

The project will provide water to almost 2,000 households in barangays Teguis, Mercedes, and Esperanza sourced from Teguis’ Mokbok Spring.

He added that the Capitol will replace the old pipes and add reservoirs for water transmission to the barangays and to households.

Garcia shared that upon hearing of Poro’s plan to apply for a loan for the project, she immediately offered help to Mayor Rama and Vice Mayor Luciano Rama.

Garcia told the Porohanons that Cebu Province’s tag as the “richest province in the country” means nothing if this cannot be felt by every Cebuano.

The Commission on Audit 2019 Annual Financial Report revealed that Cebu Province has P203.9 billion total assets, the highest among provinces in the country.

“Ug kining tubig mao kini kinahanglan gayud  inyung matagamtaman, Level 3 water system,” she added.

Also present during the event were 5th District Congressman Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco, 5th District Board Members Andrei “Red” Duterte and Miguel Magpale, Poro town officials, and Provincial Engineer Hector Jamora. (Mylen Manto)
